Zencefil Detailed Info
First appeared as a small shop of herb& spices at Ortaköy in 1991, Zencefil moved to Beyoglu and transformed into a modest, yet innovative and healthy eatery in 1993: No red meat, freshly baked bread and olive oil only for cooking seasonal veggies. That is how it stepped into the world of food as a brave new place with an innovative attitude to set the trend thereafter; a trademark for happy, healthy, tasty food in the city. Local ingredients were cooked inspired by various traditions; creative use of herbs&spices offered a new alternative for adventurous palates. Seasonal food, daily baked bread and healthy cooking methods did the magic. Zencefil became a source of inspiration and attraction for many, establishing itself as a classic shortly. For the first 10 years in its legendary tiny location, since 2003, located right across the same place, spread out to have a tiny garden and a winter garden, Zencefil is a must for its special dishes: potatoes with mushroom, quiche with swisschard, hearthy soups and mulled wine in winter; eggplant pie, cold yoghurt soup, seabeans and lemonade in summer; vegetable lasagne and pumpkin pie always! A place to experience for its totally unique food in modest and bright atmosphere, Zencefil is waiting for you at Kurabiye sok. No. 8-10, just off Istiklal street behind French Consulate; open everyday except on Sundays between 10.00 - 24.00 , all major credit cards are accepted. Bon appetite!
